More than one hundred volunteers from local companies, schools and towns participated in over 20 community improvement projects at last year's Annual Community Day of Caring. An estimated $10,000 worth of labor was be donated during the largest one-day volunteer service event in Windham County.
Day of Caring is a great opportunity for businesses, sport teams, organizations and families to form a volunteer team and work together to help our community - everyone is invited and encouraged to participate. Day of Caring is a family friendly event; however, volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. "If you're old enough to hold a paint brush and not spill the paint can, you're welcome to join us," said United Way of Windham County Executive Director Carmen Derby, noting that she asks parents to gauge if their children are old enough to contribute safely to the event.
If you are interested in participating in this year's Day of Caring, sign up for a project . You will be contacted by a site leader with more information before September 6!
