Holcomb House Open on Sunday

The Holcomb House, home of the Johnson Historical Society will be open from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday, June 25th. The hosts on-duty will be Alice Whiting and Lois Frey. Peruse the extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia or come to chat about something in Johnson's history that interests you.

There is lots to see. Hanging on the walls are paintings by Johnson residents including Georgia Balch, Ruth Mould, Helaine Perkins, Roger Jones, Dr. Lynhurst Holcomb and many more. There are display boards featuring farms, schools, Civil War houses, Main Street in the early days, and postcards representing many aspects of community. There is a collection of military uniforms and a large selection of Johnson education memorabilia and yearbooks.

Also, our gardeners Mary Jean Smith and Andrea Blaisdell have extra potted plants from their new garden project which will be available for sale at $5 each to benefit the Johnson Historical Society. There will be plants that typically made up historic gardens, like iris and stellas. Stop by the Holcomb House, 188 Main Street East, Johnson on Sunday afternoon for a walk through history.
