Key items on our agenda include:
• PRESENTATION AND UPDATE ON BURLINGTON TELECOM. Each year, we get an update from BT regarding community support, an operational update and progress on the BT Innovation Fund and STEM &Technical Skill Grant.
• COMMISSION AND BOARD APPOINTMENTS FOR THE FY24 YEAR – Each year, we appoint Commissioners and Board Members for terms that expires as of June 30. A special committee of Councilors reviews applicants and comes up with a slate of appointments. We will vote on that slate and two appointments will come to a floor vote.
• CITY PLACE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS CONSTRUCTION COSTS – As City Place Partners advances work on the private building improvements, they are also looking to advance the Public Improvements to include construction of the new street to Great Streets Design Standards; amenities such as decorative lighting, benches, and bike racks; durable materials with granite curbs, new trees/plantings and stormwater collection. With construction of these improvements anticipated to start this summer, we must vote on this expenditure so the work can commence.
• NET ZERO ENERGY UPDATE – We will have an update on progress being made on our NZE Roadmap.
• FIRE LEADERSHIP PAY SCALE ADJUSTMENT – We will vote on a wage scale adjustment for battalion and deputy chiefs consistent with the union and cost of living increases the Council approved a few months ago.
