On Friday night, June 16, the Sky Blue Boys will play at The Whammy Bar, in the Maple Corner Community Store (31 W. County Road), for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the venue's closure in 2020. Although The Whammy has been back in business for a while, and brothers Banjo Dan and Willy Lindner have played there with the VT Bluegrass Pioneers, it's been more than three years since their duo has been featured at this cozy and popular nightclub. The Sky Blue Boys carry forth the tradition of "brothers duos" that was once a cornerstone of American rural music. Featuring guitar, mandolin, banjo, and other acoustic instruments, they perform mountain ballads, parlor songs, and instrumentals, and expand on the traditional sounds with imaginative and compelling songs of their own. Their shows are packed with variety, energy, and fun. The Sky Blue Boys will start their first set at 7 p.m.
