This painting class is designed to introduce artists of all ages (16+) to the basics of plein air painting, or painting directly from life. Each class will begin indoors and will cover one of the elements that are essential in the development of a successful painting, such as brushwork, values, composition and color theory. We will go outdoors (weather permitting) for a short demonstration, followed by time to develop your own original painting in the field. Subjects of focus will include trees, water, buildings, and mountains. Water soluble oil paints may be used, or traditional oils with odor-free and non toxic solvents are the preferred mediums. A materials list will be provided.
