For 20 years, Robert Shetterly has been making large format portraits of citizens who courageously address issues of social, environmental, and economic fairness. The project is called "Americans Who Tell the Truth" and it wonderfully merges art creation with our social and cultural realities. Each portrait has words spoken by the person painted etcheded into the actual portrait. The portraits and words are combined in a way that offers resources to inspire a new generation of engaged Americans who will act for the common good, our communities, and the Earth. The opening of this show at BALE Commons, 35 South Windsor Street in South Royalton is Monday, June 19 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The exhibit continues through September 8.
