Starting Monday - Adaptive Biking on the LVRT

Past event
Jun 26, 2023, 3:30 to 5 PM

Following up on their SpringFest introduction over Memorial Day weekend, Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country (ASPNC) will be hitting the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT) with local participants and volunteers for the first-time Monday, June 26!

A nonprofit organization based in Franconia, New Hampshire, ASPNC aids in reducing barriers and enabling individuals with differences in physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and/or behavioral functioning to experience and thrive through recreation in the great outdoors. Although ASPNC offers a multitude of activities designed for those with disabilities, the adaptive biking program will be the first to come to Hardwick and is sponsored by the Hardwick Recreation Committee and the Hardwick Trails Committee. Future programs may include adaptive hiking, adaptive kayaking, and more!

The Adaptive Biking program will run from 3:30-5 pm every Monday from June 26-August 28 (excluding July 31) and from 10-11:30 am on every other Saturday (starting July 1). Participation in the program is free to all Hardwick residents. Note: There will not be a session held on Monday, June 19th as originally advertised in honor of Juneteenth.

If adaptive biking sounds right for you/someone you love, or if you would like to be a volunteer for the program, sign up under the "Get Involved" tab on the ASPNC' website (www.adaptivesportspartners.org). No prior experience riding an adaptive bike or volunteering with adaptive sports or individuals with disabilities is needed. Additional questions? Contact Kerry Hussey, NEK Program Manager, at ASPNC (802-427-4116 or kerry@adaptivesportspartners.org).
