Weekly on Sunday Mornings — June through August
10 am – noon | Adults and families welcome
at North Branch Nature Center
FREE | No registration required
This new, weekly gathering is about exploring nature together and sharing in the discoveries offered up by the landscape. Each outing features a different loose theme, facilitated by rotating NBNC staff. The outing may involve wildlife tracking, nature journaling, wading in the river, searching for plants by smell, chasing dragonflies, hunting for bird nests, making animal track casts, birdwatching, mapping birdsong, following old stone walls, or even guided free-exploration. Unless special clothes or supplies are required, themes will be revealed at the beginning of each program. There is deep joy in wandering the woods, guided only by our attention— Nature Romps are about reconnecting with this practice.
To bring: Footwear and clothing that is suitable for various outdoor activities, including walking off-trail. If you need a hand finding proper gear, please let us know! Water shoes may be necessary some weeks, which we will indicate on that week's calendar event listing. Please also bring water, snacks, and sunscreen.
Physical Requirements: Participants should be comfortable moving across the landscape up to a mile, potentially off-trail on hilly, muddy, or uneven ground, or wading up to knee-deep in water. Participants should be comfortable and prepared for varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, sun, or rain.
