What: Sacred Harp singing, sometimes called shape note singing, is a tradition that dates back to the 1700's in New England. Vermont singing masters such as Justin Morgan and Jeremiah Ingalls were active contributors. It is a-cappella singing. It is participatory not performative, but requires no singing experience or knowledge of music. The event is free and all are welcome. We will sing from the 1991 edition of the Sacred Harp song book. Books will be available for loan or purchase.
COVID-19 Precautions: We ask that all attendees be vaccinated against COVID-19, and that each attendee provide a same day negative COVID test (a photo is fine). A limited number of rapid tests will be available at the door. Please stay home if you are experiencing symptoms or have been recently exposed to someone infected with COVID-19. Masking is welcome but at each individual's discretion.
