Taconic and Green Regional School District meeting will include possibilities for a regional middle school.
It is the recommendation of the Superintendent that the Taconic and Green Regional School District Board continue exploring the formation of a regional middle school for students in grades 6-8 that would be located in the town of Manchester. The recommendation includes:
1. The Board creating a Board Middle School Study Committee to lead future work.
2. The Board approving an analysis of:
a. The current Manchester Elementary Middle School (MEMS) building for renovation and
b. The current MEMS building for expansion/addition and
c. The current MEMS property for new construction for a middle school and
d. Determining if there is property in Manchester that would serve as a viable lot for constructing a new school.
3. The analysis outlined in #2 above will include alignment from visioning work outcomes, estimates of cost comparisons, and construction recommendations to the Board
4. The Board holding community engagement sessions across towns over the next 3-6 months to share information with community members and answer questions.
