Middlebury Shape-Note
Sunday, June 11, 2023, 1:00 – 3:00 pm
OUTSIDE! Town Recreation Park Pavilion
Mary Hogan Drive, Middlebury VT
~ ~ ~
Our shape-note singing continues a tradition dating back to the 1700s, when Justin Morgan, Jeremiah Ingalls and other itinerant singing masters spread this style of community singing. We sing from the Sacred Harp song book in 4-part harmony (treble, tenor, alto, bass), a cappella (without instruments). Free and open to all. middleburyshapenote@gmail.com
DIRECTIONS: The Rec Park pavilion is one block south of the town green, on Mary Hogan Drive, off Route 7 (Court Street). Park in the adjacent school parking lot.
* Please bring a folding chair.
* Bring your own song book and water and snack.
* Sacred Harp loaner books will be available. Also books for sale ($25).
* Songs from other tune books are welcome; please bring photocopies (c20).
