The St. Johnsbury Band will start its 193rd summer concert season with an outdoor concert starting at 6:30 PM Monday June 12th, weather permitting. The concert will be offered at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation; Hospital Drive in St. Johnsbury.
The concert is free and open to the public. A free ice cream social will also be offered.
Although the program is chosen by our Musical Directors, it will probably have some patriotic pieces to honor veterans and their families who could not attend a Memorial Day observance.
The band has an extensive music library that has pieces dating back to the late 1800s including many out of print pieces that are either not available or only available as modern arrangements. The band performs historic marches, popular show tunes and receives private donations to purchase new music from artists such as Eric Clapton.
Upcoming concerts after June 12th are (note not all concerts start at the same time): June 19th 7:30 PM Courthouse Park. The music will honor the St. Johnsbury Fire Department who will be the ice cream scoopers. The music hopefully will include 'The Fireman's Quickstep,' plus historic newspaper marches 'Washington Post,' 'Chicago Tribune' and 'Caledonian Record.' June 26th 7:30 PM Courthouse Park.
