It Takes a Community to Stop an Invasive Plant!
An Invasive Plant Removal Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 10th, 9:00-3:00, at Sodom Pond in Calais. Join us in working to protect this ecologically rich pond from the invasive Yellow Iris, which has gotten a foothold in the wetlands at the north end of the pond. You only need to commit as much time as you are able to.
Efforts will continue to focus on removal, by cutting back, of the Iris, which is now starting to bloom. Our first removal day was a great success, but we have to continue to cut the plant back to hold it at bay, and remove the flowering heads before they go to seed!
