Va-et-Vient Returns to Stone Valley Arts

Past event
Jun 9, 2023, 6 to 8 PM

Stone Valley Arts announces the return of the Francophone trio, Va-et-Vient on Friday, June 9 for the first concert of its summer season followed by a community dance of Quebecois and French traditional dances. The evening will begin at 6pm when the trio will play a concert in the first-floor gallery surrounded by the current art show featuring works by Abenaki artists. Following an intermission, the group will move up to the second floor via stairs to lead us in an hour of community dancing. The dancing is set to begin at 7:30pm.

Vermont's Addison County group Va-et-vient ('Come & Go') celebrates the many colors found in music from several French cultures. These musiciennes will take you through the centuries from France to Québec and New Orleans with lively dance numbers, touching love songs, kickin' Cajun and Créole tunes, and rollicking Québecois favorites. The group includes Carol Reed from Leicester (voice, guitar, & mandolin), Suzanne Germain from Lincoln (voice and percussion), and Lausanne Allen from South Starksboro (voice, fiddles, flute, penny whistles, harmonica, & mandolins).

This event is on a sliding scale. A suggested donation is $10—more if you can would be greatly appreciated, but less is okay. Come in the spirit of celebrating together in music and dance.

Stone Valley Arts is located at 145 E. Main St., Poultney, VT 05764 and on the web at www.stonevalleyarts.org .
