Wildlife Walk in Shelburne This Thursday (June 8)!

Past event
Jun 8, 2023, 5 to 7 PM

Hi all,

We had a great time at the bird banding event at the Catamount Community Forest on Saturday -- thanks to Mark LaBarr from Audubon Vermont for doing the banding and to Green Mountain Audubon Society for leading the bird walk. There will be another chance to learn about managing forests for bird habitat at the Catamount Community Forest on 6/22, when Jacob Crawford of Audubon Vermont and GMAS and I will co-lead another bird-focused event.

In the summer folks tend to be busy on weekends, so we're going to try to hold some educational events on weeknight evenings. This Thursday will be the first such event, at the LaPlatte River Nature Park in Shelburne (see details, below).

My article for this month is called is called Red Pine: A Profile. You can read it here: https://mcusercontent.com/58398f7a782118e355bf99377/files/e32e0603-d665-5b9c-e320-a8a3750590[...]pdf

Wildlife Corridors Walk with the Chittenden County Forester
Thursday, June 8
5:00-7:00 PM.
Join the Shelburne Alliance for the Environment (SAFE) for an evening interpretive walk with Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester. The walk will focus on wildlife and forest ecology, and will especially focus on Shelburne's remaining wildlife corridors and habitats, as mapped in the recent Arrowwood Environmental report Forest Habitat Block Assessment and Rankings (check out the report here: https://aevt.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/sidebar/index.html?appid=f02ece22372c46caa6b24ef3a1335398) Bring your questions about forests, forest ecology, forest fragmentation and wildlife!
To join, meet behind the Shelburne Market in Shelburne (here: https://goo.gl/maps/rvJ4HXp4v4WKEAfg9). Be prepared to spend two hours outdoors, including walking on some uneven surfaces.
Please note that the start time has changed from 6:00 PM (as previously advertised) to 5:00 PM.
