Foster Gardens Plant Stand

Past event

The Plant Stand is here.... the Plant Stand is here!! Foster Gardens' market tent plant stand is set up in Sharon, now thru mid-June!! After a few early season Open Greenhouses on the weekends & a Pop Up Plant Stand @Green Up Day, we're happy to be back 'downtown'🌹💐 It's been so wonderful to catch up with our flower friends, and to meet more!! From the delight of our vast selection and incredible pricing ("really, that's it?!"), to the shared memories of my mom ("I used to stop by often just so I could talk with her") and the sheer joy and appreciation of local, ecologically grown plants ("I was just thinking how nice if someone in Sharon sold plants"), it truly has been a ton of fun🌹💐

After fourteen years at the Sharon Trading Post, we are at the former Dixie's Country Kitchen, less than a mile north of Sharon on Route 14, next to the Sharon Fire Station!! Back for a third year, where we all began😊 It's been amazing sharing our beautiful flowers and veggie starts, a little closer to town😎

Many stop by often as the selection changes daily!! We still have a great selection of tomatoes and peppers, and other veggies despite numerous casualies between woodchucks, voles, and late frost, especially all the brassicas and greens to critters and melons and squash to frost. Some may survive, but selection will be very limited. Perennials are also limited to a few herbs and flowers due to the fear of spreading jumping worms, and shoveling is still hard with the new knees.

We are open every day, 10am-6pm, 9am on Saturday, as life, work and the weather allow, until June 14. Now that the weather is turning for good, the flowers and veggies will be going fast!! 🌺💜🌼 Kudos to those who bring their own boxes and trays!!

What or where is Dixie's you ask?! It's a renown Sharon landmark with delicious home cooked meals and fabulous pastries, where we ate pretty much three meals a day when we were building our house, where we met with neighbors and friends every weekend for breakfast, and where our girls grew up looking forward to eating out and being social🥰 They sadly did not reopen after Irene😥

Who is Foster Gardens?! Not a garden center, it's really my hobby gone out of control:) I work full time, and in March I start everything growing ecologically in our wood-fired, solar-powered greenhouse in Sharon. I do purchase flower and herb plugs that are already off to a great start because I can't heat my greenhouse in January!! And I start thousands of flower, herb and vegetable seeds that are at least non-gmo, many organic, and all plants grown in organic potting mix with organic fertilizer and without any pesticides. After Mothers' Day (deliberate so I don't have to work on my special day), I take vacation time and we set up market tents a little closer to town😎 We will be open every day, weather and work permitting.

As always, we take your pots, baskets, trays, and inserts for reuse! (We use 4" pots the most, short or tall, round or square, and 4 pack inserts and their trays. Plus 10" and 12" baskets with attached saucers). We also have a good selection of cell inserts and trays for seed starting, plus all sizes of pots and baskets for transplanting... all for FREE, whether you're a grower or ready to get growing!!! (We have lots of 6 pack inserts, and 6" pots and larger landscape sizes available!)
