On Wednesday, June 7, the Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB) is holding a public, in-person board meeting in Lamoille County at 1 pm. The meeting will feature a roundtable discussion with local health care organizations about their work to improve community health in the region. Prior to the meeting, GMCB members will tour local businesses and health care organizations.
Through a series of traveling board meetings, GMCB aims to shed light on opportunities to improve access, affordability, and quality of health care for Vermonters. GMCB is meeting with community members, providers, and health care organizations to learn about barriers to access and affordability—core pillars of GMCB's regulatory work. GMCB is additionally focused on opportunities to improve access to, and sustainability of, Vermont's providers, including in the primary care, long-term care, hospital, mental health care, and substance use settings.
"As GMCB carries out its regulatory duties, we are cognizant of the system-wide pressures on access to affordable, high quality health care for Vermonters as well as the sustainability of our health care system," said Owen Foster, Chair of GMCB. "We are going to Lamoille County to meet with the community and to learn about the creative solutions underway that promote these shared goals." The June 7 meeting marks the second in-person board meeting since GMCB resumed traveling meetings last December. GMCB will continue hosting traveling board meetings across the state.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend this in-person meeting.
