The Calais Selectboard will hold a special meeting to hear a complaint under the Town of Calais Dog Ordinance.
On May 22, 2023, Mark Whitman filed a complaint stating that on the evening of Thursday, May 18, 2023, he was attacked by two large dogs running at large on Kent Hill Road near Kent's Corner. The owner of the two dogs is Elsa Ingpen who resides on Kent Hill Road in Gospel Hollow.
The Selectboard will hear the matter on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 6:00 pm under the Dog Ordinance which may be found at the Calais Town Website. Under Section 4 of that Ordinance, the Selectboard will make a determination as to whether the owner of the dogs has allowed, permitted or suffered the dogs to create a nuisance and, if so, the Selectboard may impose penalties and/or restrictions as set forth in the Ordinance.
At the hearing, witnesses and others with pertinent information may present evidence and testify
under oath.
