Bring your family and friends out for an evening of good music this Thursday July 31, 6:30 PM at the Old Schoolhouse Common in Marshfield Village. Brought to you by the Jaquith Public Library.

Cold Country performs a variety of bluegrass material, ranging from Ralph Stanley standards to more contemporary arrangements, with an occasional "old timey" piece included. The band also enjoys performing a variety of bluegrass gospel songs, which are characterized by haunting southern rural harmonies. Bill Moulton on mandolin, the band's lead singer; Craig Whipple, guitar and baritone; Jeannette Hogan, string bass and harmonies; and Con Hogan, banjo and tenor. The group features Tony Washburn, well-known fiddle player from Morrisville, VT.

The Kick ‘em Jenny string band features hot old-timey and traditional roots music. The Montpelier-based group draws upon southern old-time and Cajun music, playing local contra dances as well as toe-tapping events across the state. Members are Alec Ellsworth (fiddle and lead vocals), Ted Ingham (banjo), Chris Hollis (guitar and uke), and Kathleen Moore (bass and guitar).

Our annual summer concert series is Thurs. evenings at 6:30 p.m. through Aug. 14th. and is a highlight of our year at the library. Musicians play at the Old Schoolhouse Common gazebo (or inside if raining). There's a playground for the little ones. Bring your chair or blanket and a picnic, and settle down for an evening of great music. You might even be inspired to get up and dance. BBQ food (local grass fed Angus beef burgers and local veggie burgers) along with bake sale items will also be available for purchase, along with a gently used books.
