MRVARI Anti-Racism Discussion

MRVARI (The Mad River Anti-Racism Initiative) will be holding its monthly discussion this Sunday evening, 5/21, at the Village Meeting House (ground floor of the Waitsfield church), from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Please join us! It's not necessary to have come before, nor to have prepared or read any specific material.

MRVARI is not affiliated with any religion or political group. There are no prerequisites, nor any demands that you think or vote in a certain way. We simply ask that you arrive with an open mind and heart, willing to stretch your worldview in a way that supports racial equality specifically, and human dignity in general.

Over several years, our group has worked to create a space in which honest conversations about race and racism can occur. We resist the societal and cultural forces that serve to silence us, and seek to identify the many implicit messages that serve to divide us.

Each month, we recommit to resisting the ways in which institutionalized racism stunts and harms us all, leaving us feeling hopeless, and insecure. We resolve to accept our own imperfections, to tolerate discomfort, and to take an active role in dismantling oppression. We very much hope you'll join us!

Respectfully,
Wrenn Compere, facilitator
