Summer Solstice Plein Air Paint Out and Lambert Packard Tour
Recently there has been significant interest in St Johnsbury's architect Lambert Packard and his remarkable contribution to the town's historic streetscape.
This year on the Summer Solstice, Wednesday June 21, our very own historian, Bob Swartz, will lead a walking tour along Main St and relate some of the interesting and detailed facts about this prolific and extraordinary man. For instance, of the 25 buildings that Packard completed on Main Street, only 4 are gone, lost to fire. We will learn to identify his signature architectural style and gain a new appreciation for his most important works.
Also, in combination with the walking tour, we would like to invite any artists to participate in a Solstice Plein Air Paint Out along Main St to depict some of the Lambert Packard homes and buildings in art form. Artists of any level and medium are welcome to participate. There is no instruction or critique, just a wonderful way to spend the long evening hours of the Summer Solstice among other creatives.
