Have you heard about the Rec Center in Castleton?
Earlier this year, the former CVS building was re-opened to operate as the home for Castleton Rec. With a gym and ample indoor and outdoor space for programs and events, it is a shining opportunity to make community visions a reality.
We've gathered tons of ideas from you all! Some involve bringing new programs to Castleton (hello, pickleball!), some tackle community gaps/needs, and others yet focus on transforming former classrooms into generative, safe, alive community spaces.
So many projects! Let's take a few purposeful strides forward and see what magic we can make for our community.
You're invited to the first organizing meeting(s) on Friday 5/19 at the Rec Center, facilitated by the Castleton Rec Director. Come to as many as you like, or pick a favorite!
The 5/19 schedule:
1-2pm: Organizing meeting for a playroom for young children and caregivers
2-3pm: Organizing meeting for a "lounge" for teens and the community at large
3-4pm: [bathroom break, snack break, chat, scheme 😉]
4-5pm: Organizing meeting for a "Rec Fest" all-ages event in July to celebrate Parks & Rec month
During these meetings, we'll pitch popular ideas, refine them together with feedback rounds, assess whether it's a project we'd like to, indeed, move forward with, and if so, devise a rough gameplan and determine next steps.
Will you be there?
