On Saturday May 20 at 11 am the Duxbury Historical Society will be holding a Pre-Memorial Day Service in honor of our veterans at the South Duxbury Church across from Harwood Union High School followed by moving to the South Duxbury Cemetery for the placing of a wreath at the Veterans Memorial.. The service will begin at the South Duxbury Church, recently acquired by the Duxbury Historical Society at 11 am with opening by Skip Flanders . The service will include a short history of the Old Church and include hymns played by Ken Spencer on the old pump organ. Pastor Sam Newton of the Wesley United Methodist Church will deliver a memorial message followed by "Ashokan Farewell" played by Willie Docto on the violin.

The service will then move across RT 100 to the South Duxbury Cemetery with an opening by Pastor Marie MacDougall of the Moretown Methodist Church followed by remarks by Mark Morse and laying of the wreath on the veterans memorial by Denise Gabaree of the Moretown Historical Society and Chris Magnani of the Duxbury Historical Society assisted by members of the Harry Cutting Post 59 of the American Legion.
