Barika will display their grooves at Tuesday Night Live, on July 29th from 6 to 8:30 PM on the Legion Field. Barika is a 7-piece Burlington based band, which blends traditional West African styles of the Kamel N’Goni of Mali with future-shock contemporary Western styles, founded by Craig Myers in 2010. Melody and groove are interweaved to create an especially interesting sound for the listener. Barika members are Caleb Bronz (drums), Rob Morse (bass), Andric Severance (keys), Dave Purcell (trumpet), Deva Racusin (tenor saxophone), Adam Dotson (trombone), and Craig Myers (kamel n’goni). Bring your dancing shoes to this family event as well as a blanket or chair.
What’s happening to the some of the trees around town? Check-in with Sue Lovering at the Conservation Commission tent. She is set-up between Cal’s Tuesday Night Live tent and the Historical Society tent.
Vendors on-site include Raymond’s Nepalese, Fire and Slice pizza, Mediterranean mix, Kettle Corn, Tammy’s gourmet hot dogs, Hot Tamale, Kingdom Creamery ice cream, Back Country BBQ, and Inner Wolf batik clothing. McKenzie hotdogs and fresh-made salads with homemade pie or cake make a delicious Tuesday night supper and also support the Historical Society.
There are two parking lots that may be used for Tuesday Night Live, the Elementary School lot on College Hill and Johnson State College’s McClelland Building parking lot, which is a bit further up College Hill on the left. Parking along the street is fine as long as driveways are not blocked.
Summer showers may dampen the enthusiasm for a few minutes; but it is only lightning and thunder that cancels the event.
Tuesday Night Live is free thanks to the financial support of Chuck’s Bikes, Concept 2, Foote Brook Farm, Forget Me Not Shop, Johnson Hardware/Rental, Johnson State College, Laraway Youth and Family Services, and Polow, Polow & Mahoney. Also, R. E. Construction, Rock Art Brewery, Sterling Market, The Studio Store, Vermont Studio Center, and Carrie Cook Design.
