Join us for a concert celebrating the release of Levyosn's debut album Lullaby, released with Borscht Beat in May 2023.
Founded in 2021, Levyosn is a new Boston-based trio specializing in Yiddish song and klezmer. The band takes its name from the Ashkenazi Hebrew word for the leviathan, a mythical sea creature traveling the world's oceans collecting songs, krill, and dreams. Our repertoire includes both traditional music and original songs in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, and English, and draws from adjacent Eastern European folk traditions. We bring rich vocal harmonies and driving dance rhythms to classic Yiddish songs, little-known gems, and original songs alike.
Band members include Adah Hetko (vocals/guitar/songwriting), Kaia Berman-Peters (accordion/vocals/songwriting), and Lysander Jaffe (violin, vocals). Levyosn's musicians have performed and taught in venues such as The Kennedy Center, KlezKanada, Yiddish New York, Jalopy Theatre, and The Jewish Museum of Baltimore.
Tickets are by sliding scale donation: $10-25 suggested
