Calling on all conservation-minded farmers, landowners, and partners, the Orleans County Conservation District (OCNRCD) is holding a hybrid Memphremagog Basin Plan and Locally-led Conservation Planning Forum on Thursday, March 18, at 12:30-4:30, at the Prouty Beach Pavilion in Newport. This event is open to the public. FREE DESSERT FROM JED'S MAPLE!
The Locally-led Conservation Planning Forum allows stakeholders an opportunity to discuss current state and federal programs, conservation needs, and resource concerns in Orleans County. The outcomes of the Locally-led Conservation Planning Forum will be included in the District's proposal to USDA NRCS for local funding pool for conservation priorities identified by the group. It will also inform the Memphremagog Basin Plan strategies.
Sarah Damsell, district manager at OCCD, says the Locally-led Conservation Forum should be diverse and focused on agricultural interests and natural resource issues existing in the community.
