A free beginner level Falls Prevention Tai Chi class led by volunteer Claire Lindberg, a certified Tai Chi Vermont instructor, will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Waitsfield Church on Thursdays from May 18 thru June 29 at 10:30 am. AmeriCorps Seniors and the Central Vermont Council on Aging are excited to partner with the Waitsfield Church to offer this wellness program.
Often described as "Meditation in Motion," Falls Prevention Tai Chi includes a variety of movements and forms that focus on weight transference, mindfulness and balance. It is a low impact program proven to help reduce the risk of falls and reduce arthritis pain, increase muscular strength and decrease depression, anxiety and osteoporosis. The sessions include gentle range of motion exercises that are suitable for every fitness level and ability. Participants will be learning a form and it's best to try to attend every class. These enjoyable and motivational classes may be taken either standing or seated in a chair.
Preregistration is required because class size is limited to 20 people. Contact Anne Greshin (agreshin@cvcoa.org, 802-241-4840) to be added to the roster or with questions. Wear comfortable shoes such as sneakers. COVID 19 vaccination and up to date boosters (after Sept. '22) are required, masks are optional.
