Understanding UVA's New Forest Reserve Category
Tuesday, May 30 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Starting on July 1, Vermont's Current Use Program (also called Use Value Appraisal) will have a new enrollment option called Reserve Forestland. The creation of this new category allows parcels with certain characteristics to be managed for old forest values, functions, and associated characteristics. Join VT Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife as we host Keith Thompson, the Private Lands Program Manager with Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation for an overview of which lands are eligible for enrollment in the new category, how to enroll, and how management can help young forests become more like old forests – and in the process support climate resilience. Register in advance for this zoom meeting here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0tcOuvqT0vG9ExbvzwZJOBs-0C5bB1HzTd#/registration. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Vermont Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife works to educate landowners and others about sound forest management and wildlife stewardship. Landowners have varied goals and reasons for owning their woods.

We offer the resources and knowledge – through a network of professionals and trained Cooperators – to guide landowners to improve forest health and meet their goals. Learn more at https://vtcoverts.org
