This weekend is your last chance to catch August: Osage County at Hyde Park Opera House! Make sure you don't miss it!
This Friday & Saturday at 7 pm, and a final matinee on Sunday at 2pm.

A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you've got a major play that unflinchingly—and uproariously—exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.

This is no ordinary play. It defies genre classification, seamlessly blending tragedy and comedy to create a unique breed of its own. Director Heather Vize-Willey Mandigo acknowledges the challenge of bringing such a complex story to life, but the actors are able to show their range and craft in every scene. "This isn't one of the classics," she says "…this isn't a straight-up comedy or drama. It's a tragicomedy. It's realistic and lifelike. There is a complexity to a show that doesn't stand in one genre, a challenge, and the actors in this production rose to that challenge and have continued to wow me at every rehearsal since. This show is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, and I hope the audience enjoys the ride as much as I have."

So buckle up, and get ready for a wild ride into the dark side of the Midwestern American family. This play is a testament to the power of storytelling and the complexity of the human experience, and it's sure to leave a lasting impact on all who experience it.

This play does contain adult themes and language; parental discretion is advised.
