On Monday, May 8th at noon, Vermont Poisons and Pesticides Action Network (VT PAPAN) invites individuals to join a protest about the endrocrine-disrupting toxins that will be used on the railroad. Join us at the Burlington Railroad Station at 1 Main Street in Burlington.
The VT Agency of Agriculture recently granted VT Railway a permit to use flumioxazin (floo- me- ox-uh-zin) herbicide (product name is either SEMERA or PAYLOAD ) with added chemicals to control weeds on the right-of-way. The Safety Data Sheet for the product SEMERA states that this compound is suspected of harming unborn children, is suspected of damaging fertility, can cause damage to bone marrow through prolonged or repeated
exposure, and is toxic to aquatic life with both short-term and long-term effects.
Why is a state agency promoting use of this herbicide, or any herbicide, in public places, near water, and near homes? For more information, contact Sylvia Knight, VTPAPAN at sknightinvt73@gmail.com.
