August: Osage County at LCP, Hyde Park Opera House

Hello,

For the past few months, I have been working on bringing this amazing play to Hyde Park, Lamoille County Players, with a group of our friends and neighbors. This play is not your typical offering in many ways. It deals very frankly with issues of addiction and mental health and the damage they do to families when left untreated. I know that some will find the content of this play unsettling. But in 2022, 239 of our fellow Vermonters died from opioids. Every one of those persons was loved by someone. They were sisters and brothers, husbands and wives, grandchildren and parents, and their loss left gaping holes in their families. Many of these addictions likely began as mental health problems that went unseen and unheard. It's time for these conversations to come out of the darkness and into the light. Some of the proceeds from tonight's performance will go to Jenna's House treatment facility in Johnson. I hope all of you will consider coming out to see this play over the next couple of weekends (Friday-Saturday at 7 and Sunday matinee at 2 pm). While the content and language are not appropriate for kids under 16, the play does have some funny moments. It's an honest look at a family, warts and all.
