As we approach gardening season, what could be more intriguing than looking at the personal lives of some of our favorite vegetables including the much maligned tomato and potato, the (mostly) popular pumpkin and Vermont's dynamic duo of kale and Gilfeather turnip. Hinesburg resident Rebecca Rupp, Ph.D. in cell biology, will get us all up to date on why many of us do not like beets and what it is about Madame Pompadour's underwear. Author of some 200 articles for national magazines and 20 books for both children and adults, Dr. Rupp will present her case at the Worcester Town Hall, Saturday, May 13, 6:30 PM. Presentation is free and sponsored by the Worcester Historical Society through the Vermont Humanities Council Speaker's Bureau. Worcester's Town Hall is ADA accessible.
