Many of us are on computers every day for work and for fun. The landscape of security online and on mobile devices has changed significantly in the last few years. Many of us don't know where to find valid information on keeping our information and privacy safe.
I teach as a Digital Learning Leader in the Essex Westford School District but am a Jericho resident. As a teacher at EWSD I teach a class on Digital Citizenship and Safety to all the sixth-grade students at the school I support in the Junction (now city). Many parents have asked me where they can get the information as adults that their students are coming home and telling them about from discussions in my class.
I decided to offer a class through Essex Junction Recreation and Parks for adults and parents. Some of the subjects we will be covering are, but not limited to;
- How to create a more secure password scheme that you can remember.
- Identifying scams in our emails as well as through phone texts.
- What is Two-Factor Authentication and why you should be using it.
- Parental controls for mobile devices to protect our tweens and teens.
