community effort - wild parsnip removal
please come help us in our effort to eradicate invasive wild parsnip from huntington. this won't happen overnight, and won't possible unless we pitch in together.
tips & suggestions:
a. check one of the below links if you're not confident about identifying the plant,
b. cover skin (w/gloves, pants, shoes) - sap + sunlight can burn the skin,
c. rather than cutting and exposing yourself to the sap, consider bringing a shovel or other tool to loosen the soil. this is your best chance at pulling the whole plant including the root, and may be the most effective at preventing it's regrowth.
d. check this link for more details on identification, precautions, etc: http://healthvermont.gov/enviro/outdoor/wildparsnip.aspx
when: thursday 6pm.
where: meet at the bottom of happy hollow rd, huntington (or wherever you see a need).
thanks to all participants and volunteers in advance! your efforts are appreciated by our community!
