Cinco de Mayo, or the Battle of Puebla Day, is a celebration of the Mexican Army's victory over the French in the Franco-Mexican War of the mid 19th century. While not a significant holiday in Mexico, it has become a way to celebrate Mexican heritage, particularly in areas with a large Mexican-American population.
