Green Up Day - May 6

Past event
May 6, 2023

Vermont's annual Green Up Day is less than two weeks away.

Reminder that you can pick up Green Up trash bags in advance from your local coordinator or at the MRV Green Valley Rally at new MRV Welcome Center on the morning of May 6, from 8:00a to 12noon (at the corner of Routes 100 and 17). Come sign up for a roadside and meet with a variety of environmentally focused local non-profit teams looking for volunteers. All Green Up Day volunteers invited back to the Welcome Center for a BBQ from 12:00-2:00p.

For the first time, we're asking volunteers to separate clean(ish) cans from the other trash, put them in clear garbage bags, and bring them to the Welcome Center on May 6. We will redeem the cans and donate all funds to the MRV Interfaith Council, which serves neighbors in need.

If you find any tires along the road, the MR Resource Management Alliance (MRRMA) will collect tires at the Earthwise Transfer Station on Green Up Day from 8:00a-1:00p. If you find a tire along a roadside, please bring it to the Transfer Station for recycling free of charge. If you want to recycle your own car or pickup truck tires, the MRRMA will process those (with or without rims) for $5 each.
