Vermont Arbor Day Conference Returns
A day to celebrate trees.

Montpelier, VT – Vermont's annual Arbor Day Conference returns on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center after a three-year break due to the pandemic. This one-day educational and networking event honors Arbor Day, and the hardworking professionals and volunteer stewards who care for Vermont's urban trees and community forests. Programming is hosted by Vermont Urban and Community Forestry, a collaboration of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation and University of Vermont Extension.

The conference is open to any interested volunteers, municipal staff, and other professionals who plan and care for trees, and students in high school or older ready to learn about urban forestry. Nine workshop sessions will be offered in three tracks and will focus on enhancing technical skills, discussing current topics in urban forestry, and encouraging collaboration. Session topics include municipal tree inventories, caring for and planting fruit and nut trees, tree pests and diseases, and building local capacity to steward community trees.

Registration is $50 for general admission and $20 for students and includes lunch. Continuing education credits are offered for International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborists. View the detailed agenda and register at vtcommunityforestry.org/arborday by May 5. Limited scholarships are available.

The conference also celebrates Vermont's Arbor Day with a proclamation and recognition of Vermont's Tree Stewards Awards and the Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City, Tree Line, and Tree Campus award designations.
