A public information meeting regarding an upcoming project on Route 5 will be held on Tuesday, May 16 beginning at 6:15 p.m. during the regularly scheduled Selectboard meeting at the Brattleboro Municipal Center, located at 230 Main Street in Brattleboro, VT. The meeting will be held by the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) and the Town of Brattleboro.
Project: Brattleboro IM 091-1(82) I-91 Bridges 4N&S over US Route 5 (Canal St.)
The project involves replacement of the existing concrete bridge decks, repainting of the exterior steel beams, and rehabilitation of the existing concrete abutments and piers. New guardrail will be installed in the median of US Route 5 around the concrete bridge piers which will require modifications to the US Route 5 raised islands at the end of the I-91 northbound off ramp. I-91 traffic will be maintained on temporary crossovers during the bridge deck replacement work and US Route 5 will have alternating one-way traffic at times throughout the project.
The intent of the meeting is to provide an overview of this project to town officials, local residents and businesses, emergency services and other interested parties. There will be a review of the existing site conditions, proposed work, traffic control, and overall schedule followed by a question-and-answer period. Representatives from both VTrans and the Town of Brattleboro will be available at the meeting to address public concerns about the project.
