Arlington Historical Society Meeting

Past event
Apr 23, 2023, 2 to 4 PM

The Arlington Historical Society will meet at 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 23 at the Martha Canfield Memorial Library. The topic is "Artifacts, Ephemera, or History?" The difference may be important based on how history is defined and how we value material from the past. Is that old Bon Ami can from grandma's an artifact or ephemera? Today's discussion will provide some examples from the Russell Collection, help clarify the difference, and suggest what to do with these objects.

The meeting will also hear about plans for two upcoming exhibits of Ellen Lip art in May/June and Arlington Civil Defense and the USS Bennington during World War I. Anyone interested in helping with one or both of the exhibits is invited to attend.

For more information contact Bill Budde, Curator of the Russell Vermontiana Collection at the Martha Canfield Library, by phone at 802-753-6229, email at Russell_vermontiana_collection@hotmail.com or by visiting the Russell Collection on Tuesdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
