The Duxbury Land Trust has invited Spencer Hardy to present at its annual meeting on Thursday, April 20. We hope you will join us for refreshments, a brief business meeting and a talk by Hardy on The Bees of Vermont: Past, Present & Future. You do not need to be a member to come.
Spencer Hardy, Biologist with the Vermont Center for Ecostudies, has long been hooked on birds and nature. One of his first jobs out of highschool was as a technician on the Vermont Bumblebee Atlas – Spencer's first introduction to the world of insects. During undergraduate studies, he worked on projects ranging from bumblebees in the Sierra Nevada, CA to freshwater fish in Lewis Creek, VT. In 2016 Spencer graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in Biology and an obsession with Vermont's natural history. After a few years alternating between mist-netting and farming, Spencer was hired as the project coordinator for the Vermont Wild Bee Atlas, launched in 2019. While fascinated by the minutia of bee identification, Spencer tries not to spend all his time with a microscope, and as a result, his car is rarely without a insect net, fly rod, or backcountry skis.
