On December 20, 2022, Shaftsbury Solar filed a 45-Day Advance Notice to the Vermont Public Utility Commission (VTPUC) for its proposed 20 megawatt (MW) solar project to be sited on two parcels of land adjacent to Holy Smoke Road and U.S. Route 7 in Shaftsbury. Additionally, Shaftsbury Solar ("the Project") participated in a Town public meeting where residents expressed their support and/or concerns on February 8, 2023. To further engage the residents of Shaftsbury and nearby communities, the Project will be hosting an informational Open House where the public can obtain additional information regarding the details of the Project and speak with several experts on various project matters. In addition, a representative of Renewable Energy Vermont ("REV") will be present to speak to the benefits to Vermonters of in-state renewable energy projects.
Shaftsbury Solar anticipates that the Section 248 Petition will be filed in April 2023 and that filing will address several critical project topics with supporting written testimony and exhibits from our team and our expert consultants. At the Open House, attendees will have the opportunity to visit various informational stations and speak one-on-one with subject matter experts about the Project. Attendees are encouraged to stop in during the Open House to ask questions and get additional information on the Project. Based on the feedback received regarding residents' concerns, it is anticipated that the following dialogue stations will be available:
Project and Developer Overview, Regional Electric Grid, Property Tax Revenue
Project Engineering - Design, Soils, Stormwater
Wildlife and Natural Resources
Aesthetics and Visual Mitigation
Construction, Electrical and Decommissioning
Section 248 CPG and Other Permitting
