Board meetings always begin with a public comment opportunity at 6:30 p.m.; public comments can be made whether you attend in-person or virtually.
The MRPS Board will receive a presentation on findings from an audit on the district's special education program. MRPS leadership initiated the audit to assess the district's progress, identify opportunities for growth and how to build on existing initiatives.
The audit assessed 5 areas using a 1-5 scoring scale (1-1.79=starting out, 1.8-2.59=developing, 2.6-3.39=fair/emerging, 3.4-4.19=proficient, 4.2-5.0 mastered). The district scored proficient in one area (Culture of Inclusion and Collaboration) and fair/emerging in the other four areas (Student Centered Curriculum and Instruction, Shareed Understanding of and Practices for Special Education, Equitable Systems and Resource Management, Meaningful Family Partnerships).
Recommendations from the audit include developing clear expectations for developing quality special education plans for students and related staff training, building out curriculum maps with clear learning outcomes for students, professional development for teacher practices in data-driven instruction and more.
