April is...
National Poetry Month!
Stop by the Lanpher Library and share a poem on our "Post-It-Poetry" wall.
Please join us in Monday, May 1st (aka April 31st...in keeping with April is...) for a Poetry Month Celebration as we present an evening of Classical Romantic Poetry. Including historical discussions to help set context and bring the lives of these vibrant poets into focus.
This program will remind you how relevant poetry is to our present and future. Not everyone reads or goes to the museum, but all of us know at least one song/poem by heart!
"...Drive my dead thoughts over the universe
Like wither'd leaves to quicken a new birth!
And, by the incantation of this verse,
Scatter, as from an unextinguish'd heath
Ashes and sparks, my words among humankind!
Be through my lips to unawaken'd earth
The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"
-Percy Bryce Shelly (1792-1822)
