Green Up Day 2023 at Amtrak Station and Multi-Use Path – May 6 – 9 AM to 10:30 AM
Neighbors and friends of the Central/Grove Street area in Essex Junction invite you to join us on Green-Up Day for a cleanup of the area around the Amtrak Station and the Multi-Use Path that runs between Amtrak and Essex High School, designed to keep walkers off the tracks. This effort enhances enjoyment of the path for walkers and bicyclists and impression we leave on Amtrak travelers. Given the planned construction around the station platform, we will focus most of our efforts on the multi-use path.
Plan to gather at the Amtrak Station – Essex Junction from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. Here are some of the things we will do: pick up trash, of course; rake leaves and debris from the rain garden along the multi-use path; collect fallen limbs; and trim overgrowth from rain garden plantings. Of course, there is always more!!
If you have a rake, gloves, clippers, or other tools useful in a clean-up, please bring them. Most importantly, bring your team!! Thanks to Rick Jones and his team at the Essex Junction Public Works Department for their support in hauling away what we pile up.
Hope to see you on Saturday – May 6 – no need to sign up, just show up. Boy scouts, community service club members, and all others are welcome. If you have a question, drop a note.
