TINMOUTH — A pulled pork dinner and evening concert Wednesday evening, July 23, will raise money for the steeple fund at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. The dinner will be served from 5 – 6:30 p.m., followed by a joint concert at 7 p.m. featuring the Spoon Mountain Singers of Tinmouth and the Catamount Quintet brass ensemble. The cost for dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The suggested donation for the concert is $10; all proceeds will go to the church’s steeple fund.

The Spoon Mountain Singers have been performing in Rutland County for 17 years. The 10-member group draws on local talent and on the rich a cappella music repertoire from the Renaissance to the 21st century. The singers are Bob and Sue Lloyd, Helen Mango, Kate Kruesi (all of Tinmouth); Juanita Burch-Clay (Middletown Springs), Mike Willis, Jay White and Lois Johnstone (Wallingford), Elizabeth Willbanks (Poultney), and Elizabeth Gibson (Pawlet). Their portion of the evening’s program includes five and four-part choral pieces spanning the past five hundred years, from Tallis and Monteverdi to Hoagy Carmichael. The Catamount Brass Quintet formed in the Rutland area 20 years ago, and its members are Mike Durkee and Bill Ramage of Rutland, Jack Clay of Middletown Springs, Skip Fenton of Castleton and Dave McKenzie from Hamilton, N.Y. Clay says, “We hope you enjoy brass music as much as we do!” They will be playing a variety of popular pieces, ranging from Renaissance music to contemporary tunes.
