West Windsor Selectboard has declared Saturday, April 22, 2023, as West Windsor Sustainability Day
In honor of Earth Day 2023 the West Windsor Sustainability Committee will be hosting a full day of activities for children and adults focused on sustainable practices at home and in the West Windsor community.
To kick things off consider joining the Brownsville Butcher & Pantry staff as they conduct a bridge-to-bridge clean-up along Route 44. Everyone is invited to join the team at the store at 8.00am. The clean-up should be done by 10.00am where the BB&P will have refreshments available for the volunteers.
Do you own an electric vehicle (EV)? If so, please bring your EV to the West Windsor Town Hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm to share your ownership experiences and thoughts about how to make West Windsor a more EV friendly community.
From 11.00am to 12.30pm a crafts session for children will take place at Town Hall. During this session we will make mini window-sill greenhouses for the flowers preferred by our native pollinators, egg carton flower arrangements, paper roll bird feeders and play some earth-friendly games.
Following the crafts session, from 1.00pm - 2.00pm join local experts, Natalie Starr, Ken Parrot and David Putnam, will be on hand to answer your questions about recycling, plastics, dealing with the ash borer threat and importance of trees to a sustainable West Windsor.
At day's end the festivities will return to the BB&P where from 3.00pm to 4.00pm Peter Varkonyi will lead a special session on sustainable practices practiced by the store.
