Do you own an Antique American Sampler?
The Vermont Sampler Initiative is seeking samplers and other schoolgirl embroideries that were made in America and now reside in public and private collections in Vermont.
These samplers are wanted: to identify, photograph, and document for inclusion in the online National Sampler Archive (samplerarchive.org), to help understand the education of girls in the 18th and 19th centuries, and to recognize and celebrate the accomplishment of women and girls.
Rewards include: a high-resolution, professional photograph of your sampler, learning more about your sampler, providing a visual record of the education of young girls and insight into their lives, families, and communities. Your participation will further our understanding of this history.
Bring your Sampler to Sampler ID Day! April 22, 2023 from 10 to 4 at the Shelburne Museum (Walk in or by appointment) Enter through the main gate on Rte 7.
