If you missed Gerette Buglion's reading from her memoir "An Everyday Cult" last Tuesday, you still have a chance to witness compassion and discernment in action, this coming Tuesday, the 18th when Gerette presents "Reclaiming Our Lost Selves: How understanding how undue influence builds compassion and tolerance, at the Waterbury Public Library at 6:30 PM in the SAL Room. Gerette's career in cult recovery stems out of her experience in a controlling self-help group she spoke of in last week's reading of "An Everyday Cult" (available at the library.)
Gerette is a gentle soul and is passionate about education. In this presentation she will talk about the dangers of undue influence, coercive control and the process of indoctrination. How is it when you wake up, that you discover you didn't see things as they were? Gerette invites perspective which increases discernment and encourages compassion. These qualities are necessary for healthy relationships and are the backbone of resilient communities!
