Trails in New Haven: Information/Idea Gathering July 23

Past event
Jul 23, 2014, 7 to 8:30 PM

The Trails Project is a joint project of the New Haven Conservation Commission and the Parks Department. Leaders of the project, together with a growing team of volunteers, will meet on Wed. July 23 at 7pm at Town Offices for an informal, public information/input session.

Are you a trails user? Maintainer? Do you have experience with this type of project? This is an exciting, long-term project for New Haven that we hope you’d like to be part of.

The first steps in a trails development process include identifying potential users of trails and prospective routes, compiling historical information and images/maps, establishing the project’s identity and mapping out goals. We also plan to hold town “walkarounds” to determine how walkable an area is. As we develop a vision and strategy for trails, we plan to recommend new recreational trails to the Town of New Haven, some of which may connect with existing trails in adjoining towns.

The team will announce and hold additional sessions over the next several months.

Suggestions and comments from the community are welcome, so please join us on Wednesday or plan to attend a future session. Questions: contact Conservation Commission member Ruth Penfield.
