Should Rutland Town do more to keep tabs on Short Term Rentals? There are an estimated 30 housing units rented on a temporary basis to travelers, vacationers, and transients in the town. To ensure the safety of those using the rentals and to reduce possible secondary effects on residential areas, the Rutland Town Select Board and Planning Commission are considering a Short Term rentals ordinance. The first draft is out and we're looking for input from townspeople. An informational meeting is scheduled for May 11 at 6:30 pm with the Planning Commission.
